Wyatt Mitchell, then the Creative Director at The New Yorker, wanted a Neutraface that wasn’t Neutraface but still felt like Neutraface for his redesign of the magazine. Consulting with Christian Schwartz, the designer of Neutraface, the bones of Neutraface No. 2 were used to create a version that has a higher x-height and trimmed points.
